...THE BEGINNING OF A BEATIFUL FRIENDSHIP.

I love  movies so many occasions in any film images come to my mind to relate to real situations of daily life or even of desires and fears. The film has an inexplicable effect on everyone, and although we know that the film moves between the real and the fictional, also appreciate your truth above constants and omissions caused.

Perhaps there is someone who still hasn't embargoed a torrent of emotions when watching a movie just as "It's a Wonderful Life", who is not yet bristling hairs neck as "Stagecoach" crosses the west face of enormous challenges, who still has not cured the flu a viewing of "The Quiet Man". The classic film was a way to tell the stories that went beyond the screen shining directly into our brains and causing the spark reflection of our machine. For those who still remain unaware of its effects not think there is a better film to start dabbling that wonderful "Casablanca".

It must be said that "Casablanca" did not get the deserved praise with which today account until some ten years since its release, most likely because it was discovered by generations of Americans who had lived a key moment in the history of mankind, and Casablanca were answering questions that they could answer in part. But it was a film that had its premiere in the match inestimable fortune almost the Allied landing in Casablanca, namely eighteen days thereafter.

The adjective that best define the film of Michael Curtiz would be perfect, from management to the props. Curtiz boasts a masterfully allowing important details lead us by a script that keeps the viewer on a constant lookout. The performances are memorable, major and minor, but the main couple exudes excellence from appearing on the scene until fade. My particularly excites me about how the interpretation of Bogart, his cynicism, his toughness, his sarcasm and his transformation into the man he really is and that almost everyone would like to be. Ingrid Bergman is lovely and lush when it has to be, Ilsa and Rick maintain a tension that makes it go crashing inside every time they meet, they talk or look. The music is exquisite and the atmosphere makes us forget if Casablanca is like the painting because the truth is that we believe from the first frame in which it appears.

The film is not just about people who want to escape the Nazi onslaught dreadful hanging over Europe and aspires to conquer the world, also about love and heartbreak, friendship and enmity, and of course, time, the time going bye. Do not lose the chance to make a good friend, and "Casablanca" can begin a beautiful friendship with both classical cinema has given and has to give.

A hug.

HUSTON WE'VE A PROBLEM

Some months after viewing this film between adventure, comedy and romance, fall now into the account of its resemblance to the film starring Harrison Ford and Anne Heche "Six Days Seven Nights". Certainly Heche not at all like the great  Katherine Hepburn and Ford  to magnificent Humphrey Bogart, but the relationship established between the two characters of different frames if there is some parallelism, especially since both end up influencing how think of the other and obviously that adventure set in the countryside and that gives "The African Queen" their extra incentive and added value.

As with many films of the decade, there were many obstacles that the project suffered before filming and premiere. The novel was published in 1935 in the handwriting of Cecil Scott Forester, spending more than 15 years until the film gave him the opportunity he deserved. Covered very different performers, specifically Bette Davis and David Niven, but finally ended up with John Huston directed Bogart and Hepburn both flying to Congo (Rio Riuki) and fleeing sets and studies that had not offered the image and photography that Spiegel and Huston particularly wanted and desired. Well, to be honest Huston also meant hunting practice, and as the place where the novel takes place (Kenya) had refused permission, we sought a location that would allow occasional elephant hunt, in the style of Don Juan Carlos I. Much has been said about Huston's  temperament and  is known that when the director spoke about the role that Bogart would interpret it said something like "the hero of the African Queen is a drunk and an outcast, you're the greatest drunk city, well you're perfect for the character. " While, on the other hand, Hepburn was drawn to the character of the missionary and his relationship with the sinner.

Filming on African soil became a kind of ordeal for almost all equipment as many of its members ended up suffering malaria or dysentery, it was at least going by the leg down and fight the hordes of mosquitoes that besieged the set of filming. Bogart joked that he and Huston were immune because of their diet based on canned beans and asparagus together with Scotch whiskey, so the mosquitoes who dared attack the act fell thunderstruck. Also had to add to mosquitoes poisonous snakes, crocodiles, scorpions, ie a private safari within the film itself.

There are friends ...! and what about the African Queen, the rickety boat and about to ruin getting face the fury of the Congo and the enemy lunges. And yet look so decrepit I would ever sail on one of those floating islands, where it seems that you have what you need and more. A true cruise ship that was not far from real, which suffered a collapse before predestined by the script.

In short, this movie is worth a number of productions of the time, in which some variables of difficult treatment were obtained  great results mainly due to the talent of the performers and a great adaptations of literary works excellent.

A greeting.
